A Christmas Present & Finishing Some WIPs

Hello lovely friends. Since the scrappy pillow (nope not finished yet, still need to stuff it) I have been busy. For some reason the bug bit me to get busy and start Christmas presents and to finish some WIP that were staring me down every time I walked into the small bedroom. Ella has been patient, she stands there not complaining but I'm sure she is really wanting something new to show off.

Here she is wearing the first Christmas present I made for Pawnee, one of my sister-in-laws. The yarn came from my stash and it took 4-4oz. skeins of Caron Simply Soft Paints in the color Rose Garden. I used a J hook. The pattern can be found here. Cristina has a wonderful blog with all sorts of neat things and you will find a diagram for this shawl pattern there. I made up a different edging but you can also use the one she did on her shawl.

What is not to love about shawls. They can be worn so many ways. If Ella would have had a head I would have draped it on her noggin and wrapped it around her neck to be worn like a hat and scarf. I know some gals even wear them tied around their waist.

A second WIP is my snowflake scarf. It is knitted in the rice stitch, made from some RH yarn that is white with a thin silver thread running through it.

Here is a close up so you can see it better. I had this yarn for ages and never knew what I should make of it, then one day I got a brain storm, knitted this up and threw it around poor Ella's neck where it stayed until today. It needed something, even with the silver thread it was just too blah.

Snowflakes, yes, that is what it needed to perk it up, snowflakes made from the same yarn. I had made 2 and stuck them on the scarf with hat pins. Today I made more, I crocheted them until I ran out of that yarn.

Maybe this is why I procrastinated so long? I pinned them out on my blocking board and sprayed them with cool water. They should be dry by tomorrow. I can sew them to the scarf then.

Then there was this scarf that all I had to do was sew the ends together and make a cowl. It is knitted in the rice stitch (guess you kinda figured that is the only knit stitch I know, lol, it isn't but it is just one of my favorite ones).

Doubled it up and wrapped it around, just another way to wear it.

And another WIP that got finished today. Love this Hobby Lobby yarn "I Love This Yarn" and I love the variegated color called Moss Creek. I made a long cowl of it again by sewing the ends together.

This is the 3rd and final scarf that Ella has been sporting for months. I should be ashamed because there was so little left to do to complete them. Sewing seams and tucking ends and they were done. I do still have the snowflakes to sew to the white scarf and do the pillow for the scrappy project. I have to say it was a rainy morning here today and that was the main reason I got to work on these things. It feels good to finally finish something. I have 2 more sister-in-laws who I plan to make shawls for. I can't wait ♥

  2. Oh gosh, you are busy busy finishing the WIPs and making us (me) look back over here! I really love everything you showed here today. Can't wait to see those snowflakes dangling from the scarf. It's gonna be so pretty. That's a great idea! The cowls are beautiful. Haven't seen that Moss Creek colorway at H.L. yet. I'm still being pokey about crocheting much since finishing the blanket. The doily should be done, but I had to rip out my last rows because I did them wrong not paying attention. It didn't even bother me much to have to do that. Usually when that happens you can hear me cussing from the other side of the house. I must have been tired. LOL. Have fun with the shawls...I know you will. They are fun to make.
