Collections, Part 1

Are you anything at all like me?
If you are, then we have a few things in common.
The one thing I could attest to would be blogging.
If we didn't have that in common, well, then you wouldn't be here right now, right?

Over the years I have collected some stuff....we all know
that happens when you like various things.
It started out with something as simple as....
one COOKIE CUTTER!!!

Actually it was a donuts cutter, you know, the kind where you can remove that center piece to make it a biscuit or cookie cutter.

Then as the years passed my kids bought me a few. The glass ones above are the kind that you use on a ball of cookie dough and they leave an imprint.....

the same with these little ceramic presses.

And then one day long ago I was visiting with my mil...and I happened to spy out these. How thrilling when she gave them to me!!!!

She even threw in the old antique bowl that had belonged to her grandma, so I was double thrilled!!!!!!

And all the time I was finding a few more cutters, here and there and round about......

 The collection was growing, and...

then it became 1 container full and then 2, 3...I think you get the picture.

And so that is my story of my cookie cutter collection and how one little thing led to another.

So what do you collect and how did that all come about?

  2. I think cookie cutters sounds like a great thing to collect. Each one has a memory and making cookies with it must make the cookies all the better. I collect yarn, and shawls I make for myself but never wear. I just like to look at them.
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  4. That's quite a collection! I hope you still have the joy of using them sometimes.

I guess you could say I collect fabric. I have always been a sewer and crafter and have collected supplies in seasons over the years. Two years ago I made my first quilt and several more followed last year. The joy of discovering wonderful quilting fabrics in the US lead to me buying many international envelopes filled these gorgeous lengths of fabric. They make me happy just to see them in my cupboard and bring great satisfaction whenever I make something from them.

  6. I had to come back because I realized that I do collect something - belt buckles. It all started with a belt buckle that belonged to my Dad. :)

  7. Thanks for you comment on my blog post.
Susanne stippling isn't that hard. You have to drop the feed dogs on the machine and use a darning foot. Try drawing your wiggles on paper first and then have a go on a scrappy quilt sandwich.

  8. Well, I will tell you that your cookie cutter collection takes up much less space than my guilty pleasure. Well, it's no longer my guilty pleasure, but it was...ugh...I hate to admit it...Beanie Babies! I think the appeal of collecting them was attributable to the fact that my daughter was a little girl when they were at the height of their popularity. Our weekends were spent seeking these treasures. We spent a lot of wonderful hours together in this endeavor...wonderful memories...but lots of dollars! And now? They're in plastic bins in the attic! I've parted with some, but still have most. At the height of the collection (we have Beanie Babies AND Beanie Buddies - the larger counterparts), we had upwards of 700! I still have all the Buddies...and have kept my favorites of the Babies...to include all the bears. I just can't bring myself to part with them as we invested so much in them. Are they worth it now? NOOOOO! But maybe someday! Ha ha ha. I also have a fondness for Yankee Candles...ok, an obsession...and I have collected clocks and angels for years. It's just ridiculous what we accumulate in a lifetime! LOL Hugs, Annette

  9. I used to collect cookie cutters about 25 years ago! And I put them in jars just as you've done.

I collect a lot of things. My husband calls me a 'generalist' as opposed to a 'specialist.'

I'm your newest follower. Please stop by and say hi.

  10. I love cookie cutters - don´t ever feel that I have enough! I was hoping to get some new ones when I was in Chicago, but I couldn´t find them anywhere?! Must have been at the totally wrong places, but that made me feel a bit disappointed since I found so fun Star Wars cookie cutters in DC the year before.

I like globes but only have three so far (plan to get more), then I have a little collection of miniature chairs and also love to get pretty vases.
