Unveiling of Completed UFO's

You may never look at a bag of bits and pieces of scrap yarn the same way again. Sure, I know you have some tucked away in a bag, box or a drawer. In a previous post I showed you the Granny's Daughter Afghan that I started and stored away unfinished. I don't know about you, but UFO's always nag at me when I run across them from time to time. Usually they are abandoned because I have become bored and want to do something else. I really become perturbed with myself when I have a stack of projects and no end in sight. I made up my mind to try and complete at least one UFO a month. That at least should put a dent in the pile and lighten the load off my guilty crafting conscience.

And look what I finally completed!! (BIG SMILE) I got out the ironing board, iron and dampened some blocking cloths and began.......now in retrospect, the worst part was 1,672 granny tails to weave and then arranging 836 tiny grannies. Then came joining them all into strips and more tails to weave, then the tedious task of sewing the strips together by hand and weaving some more tails...and then the 2 rows of border.. the last being a simple shell stitch and slip stitch repeat to make that shell pop a bit.

Simple shell edge.

There are 38 grannies per strip and 22 strips. I have more little grannies made, enough for another blanket, but do I really want to tackle another one so soon after completing this one???? I think maybe not right now.

Then I had this Big Granny laying on the spare bed, just needing some blocking too and a small "ta da", for Big Granny because now it is completed as well.

And so it goes, 2 down and a million or so waiting in the wings.....I stretch the truth here a bit, it is really only 999,999 to go, lol, the load feels 2 afghans lighter........enjoy your weekend ♥

I love the first one the best, and you're right, we all have yarn scraps laying around 'somewhere'..
